Heritage Open Days

In September some 40,000 volunteers across England organise 5,000 events to celebrate our fantastic history and culture.

It's your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore. To find about more visit: https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/

This year William Pengelly Caves Studies Trust will be participating for the first time providing Self Guided Walks of Devon Caves

There will be an opportunity to:

• Find out about where local rocks come from. It's an amazing story of 350 million years of development involving volcanoes, coral reefs and a huge mountain chain - all in Devon.

• Learn about the caves and how they were formed.

• Visit a cave and see the remains of elephant, hippo, bison, hyaena and many other creatures that lived in Devon 100,000 years ago

• Discover how limestone burning was a big business in the 19th century

• Allow approx. 1 1/2 hours for your visit

• Visit the museum and shop

Opening Time - Sunday 10 September: 1400-1700
