Self Guided Cave Walks as part of Heritage Open Days 2019

The William Pengelly Cave Studies Centre at Buckfastleigh, Devon will be open self-guided walks on Sunday 15 September 2019

Find out about where the local rocks came from – an amazing story of 350 million years of development with volcanoes, coral reefs and a huge mountain chain – all in Devon.

Learn about the caves and how they were formed. Visit a cave and see the remains of elephant, hippo, bison, hyaena and many other creatures that lived in Devon 100,000 years ago.

Discover how limestone burning was big business in the 19th century.

Find out about the greater and lesser horseshoe bats that roost in the caves

Self-guided walks with informative interpretation at key points, takes about 1 hour.

The Museum will also be open
